Complete Equestrian Company
showcases 2 horses at the
2011 Mn Hooved Animal Rescue Trainers Challenge
Complete Equestrian Company has been accepted for the 3rd year into the 2011 Mn Hooved Animal Rescues Challenge of the Unwanted Horse. Everyone at CEC is so excited and honored to be part of such an amazing cause.
This year we've decided to do something a little different. As you know (or may not know) in 2009 we took Reserve Champion with Garnett and then in 2010 we took Overall Champion with Sullivan. We've been asked, "How do you top that?". So this year Cassie has invited a few of her Apprentices and Assistant Trainers to train their own horse using CEC's training techniques AND Cassie will have her own horse as well. We thought what could be better then helping one horse???.....The answer: helping 2! Our goal is never to win, although it is a perk, our goal is to simply better these horses, show them that someone does believe in them and to find them a home.
On this page you are able to see how our horses have progressed while in our program, see photos, find out what events the horses will be attending or have attended, learn about the generous sponsors that support CEC & these 2 horses, and learn about the rescue (MHARF).
So without further ado I'd like to introduce you to our challenge horses!

DESI: A wonderful young mare that will be trained by the CEC team!
Desi is the daughter of Delta (whom was also a rescue horse and now has a loving home). Desi will arrive at CEC mid April. Her first few days will be very low key so she can get use to our facility and the people that will be handling her. Her training will begin on or around day 3. We always start with ground work and respect work. Desi will show us what pace she is comfortable learning at, so we will proceed at her discretion. We always treat each horse as an individual so we can better that specific horse. We will post another picture as soon as Desi arrives.

Desi has been working hard at becoming a well mannered and willing young horse. She is currently riding at the walk and trot. She also has been out on the trails. Her crew (Shanda, Lizzy, Makayla & Rachel) have really grown attached to her and treat her with the utmost respect and love. Each one of the girls have their own special bond with Desi and it has really helped Desi become very trusting of people. To see what else Desi has been up to check her out on our YouTube Channel and her blog on www.mnhoovedanimalrescue.org

Desi sure does not mind much. She is such a treat to have around. All of her trainers are having a great time with her. At this point the 4 girls are working on canter departs, more confidence and jumping. They also are planning their freestyle along with prepping for the Challenge Showdown. CEC hopes you can attend the Challenge on Aug 13th at the U of M. At the showdown both Desi & Picture Perfect Lace will be up for adoption. To find out if you can adopt them go to the MHARF website.

PICTURE PERFECT LACE:
A sweet mare to be trained by Cassie & Dan!
Picture Perfect Lace aka: Charolette is a young mare with a bright future. She will arrive with Desi and will undergo the same process all while be treated as an individual. There's more info about both of these horses on www.mnhoovedanimalrescuefondation.org
We will post more pictures once she arrives!

Miss Perfect is now learning clean transitions, she is much more respectful and is trailer loading like a pro. She has shown us that she is quite a diva. She has a sweet temperament but at times she acts out. She'll stomp the ground or swing her head to make sure were aware that she is un-happy. Over all she is very outgoing, smart and beautiful! To see her move check her out on our YouTube Channel and to see more pics and read more about her go to www.mnhoovedanimalrescue.org
Both horses have some wonderful sponsors!!

Go Perfect!! She has been out and about strutting her stuff. Here she was at a WSCA gaming show in Wi. She placed 4th in this Egg N Spoon class. She also stood at the trailer while the Cheese Curd Festival Parade passed by. She currently is working on gaining more confidence, lead departs, gaming patterns and some jumping.
We all hope you come check out Perfect and Desi at the U of M on Aug 13th for the Challenge Showdown.

Sullivan & Complete Equestrian Company
Complete Equestrian Company was accepted into the 2010 Mn Hooved Animal Rescues Challenge of the Unwanted Horse. Everyone at CEC was so excited and honored to be part of such an amazing cause. On this page you are able to see how Sullivan progressed while in our program, see photos, find out what events Sullivan attended, learn about the generous sponsors that supported CEC & Sullivan, and learn about the rescue (MHARF).
The horse that was assigned to us in 2010 was Sullivan a 3 yr old recently gelded Overo. He was rescued from a farm where he spent 2 years of his life confined to a stall, never seeing outside. He received plenty of hay and water, but no medical attention, farrier care, vaccines or love. When talking to Drew (MHARF) about when she went to pick up the horses from this farm she said each one had to jump down to get out of the stalls, that is how full the stalls were of manure, pee and old hay.
We were happy to help Sullivan get a new start on life.

Visit Sullivans fanpage on Facebook. We continually update his facebook.

Wednesday May 12th Sullie had his first Chiropractic appointment with Kyla Awes. We met Kyla at Cleary Lake Veternairy and spent about an hour with her. She was very patient with Sullie, as he was unsure about his surroundings, her and her tools. Kyla was extremely gentle and kind to Sullie and in no time he was trusting her more and more. Sullie needs to be seen once a week for awhile to help him with his issues from being in a stall for 2 years. Sullie also has been doing great on accepting a saddle, leading around the property and accepting all our crazy desensitizing tools. A HUGE thanks to Kyla Awes for her donation of chiropratic care, Arnie Bauer donated enough hay for Sullivans entire stay with us, and Erin Olson for helping to keep his stall clean and fresh.

This week Sullivan has been working hard on learning more about backing, giving to bit pressure, collecting, dis engaging his hind quarter and fluid transitions. Cassie has been busy helping him refine his turning and whoaing skills. She also has been helping with some more desencitizing. The two of them have been busy and have had lots of fun!
Bernie has been out helping Sullivan too. The two of them have been working on Sullivnas lope. We have a video of his first lope around the arena, and we will be posting it on youtube very soon. Bernie has also been helping Sullivan on his trail riding and Sullivan has shown us all that he likes to walk out, he has a nice fast walk. Bernie and Sullivan even had a fun little "race" against Cassie and Smokey up a hill. Sullivan liked stretching his legs out. He did not offer any bucking(nor has he ever), he slowed down at an appropriate speed and stopped when asked. It was amazing to see.
Sullivans sponsor, a Simpiler Way dropped off some all natural fly spray for him over the weekend too. To purchase yours contact Cassie. (1 Full Bottle: $10 & Refills: $8)

Everybody loves Sullie!!! All our campers enjoy giving Sullie lots of love and riding him a bit around the arena. This little horse is a great kids horse. He is the perfect size, he is forgiving and he does not spook at anything(that we've found). He has never tried to bite, rear, buck or take off. He is always willing and attentive.
To see more of Sullie in action check him out on our YouTube channel.

This is the last week we have sweet Sullivan. Only 5 days until the Trainers Challenge. Sullivan is ready. He has been working hard, putting on some weight and enjoying his last days in our care. He had a vet check today and the vets pretty sure his teeth were bothering him and that's why he wasn't eating and dropped weight. Now we will just fine tune a few things before the show on Saturday at the U of M's Leatherdale Center at 10am. We hope to see many of you there supporting CEC and Sullivan. If your interested in Sullivan I urge you to please contact us before Saturday so we can give you more information and let you know in our opinion if you would suit him. Thanks to everyone for the fun, laughs and continued support. We couldn't do what we do with all of you supporting us. We tip our hats to you with love :)
